Hunting in Waukesha

Printed in the Journal Sentinel in "Your Opinions" summer 2006 Under "Hunting
Officials must consider need for animal control"

More than allowing hunting in Waukesha County parks, steps need to be taken to keep hunting there into the future. Open areas for hunting, whether leaving large areas undeveloped or having the surrounding development to be office or industrial (businesses that would generally be empty on the weekend), animal control needs to be planned for. Hunters are a cheaper option than having a large and expensive animal control department. Animal control is becoming a problem in the most densely developed areas of the county. Even officials in Milwaukee County have sharp shooters weed out the deer populations at times. Marksmanship should also be a requirement for hunters in developed areas.

This was a condensed version of the letter to the editor I sent and do not have the original.
